What are days like in the park with your family? Is your son catching frogs, your daughter blowing bubbles and your husband trying to capture every second on camera? See how one mom writes down these priceless memories. Unforgettable is the feeling that we are trying to get across for this ad for a luxury condo to be built in Bedok Reservoir. In a slightly different take on what an ad trying to sell property should be, we decided to focus on the serenity of nature that will surround your life. Never mind, the “murky” reputation that Bedok Reservoir has in its past. Your home will be a place where the subtleties of nature and the endless time with your family is all you have to worry about.

Follow our Japanese travelers in Europe as they end up with a group of friends at restaurant. It’s no small shoot when you are filming a Japanese superstar with full time stand-ins hired. It was 2 very very long days of shoot. A pleasure and a true collaboration between the two production companies involved. Look out, this is only part 1 of 2.

Kampuchea Bound. On 2nd February we departed Changi airport and arrived in the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. We were there on a short 4 day trip to give our time and assistance to the deeply undervalued children of the Baray District. The Khmer Rouge’s genocide on the Cambodian people in the 70s left over 2 million people dead putting the country itself in catastrophe. Cambodia as a whole was in a state of helplessness after they were freed from the Rouge’s governance. Thus, now the majority of the population is under 25 years old and most are extremely poor. This is a nation that is truly building itself from the ground up.

Reel Loco Productions, as a team decided to see for ourselves the current condition and to help, if we could. The Baray District is home to a wonderful little Homestay which became our base. Esther, the owner of Khmer Homestay, coordinated our activities to help out with a school and an orphanage in the region and saw to it that we worked with the children most in need. In our short time there we were able to interact with over 200 kids during our stay. While there we conducted a “mobile library” session for the village children, sang songs and played sports at a government school and built a reading corner/av room at an orphanage. You can see the delight in these kids eyes when you interact with them. We know we will not be able to change their lives forever but, we hope to spark a bit of inspiration that they will carry with them. It was a trip that was just as much adventurous as meaningful.

Do let us know if you would like any contacts if you or your company is interested in doing a similar trip.

It was a trip that was just as much adventurous as meaningful.

We decided to make a video that gives us an empathetic view of one school in Baray. Through the eyes of one teacher, Marin, we see what they have and learn of what they do not. This video will show you how the kids will walk kilometers every morning to school and how they are still sitting in dirt during their lesson. Despite the differences, you can see the smiles in the children’s faces. A mark of being content with their current situation. We hope to change that with this video. This video will be used to raise awareness of a situation that we almost never hear about. Hopefully, it will inspire a change.

Please check out this video we were able to construct while up there. And let us know if you would like any contacts if you or your company is interested in doing a similar trip.

Reel loco celebrated its 10th anniversary with a bang! It was one hell of a crazy night. We had our very own gorilla mascot, going around greeting guests and taking pictures with them. Entertaining for some, scary for the others. The party kicked start with the premiere of Adventures of Loco, portraying the existence of the company in the industry and how we grew over the years. The loud applause from the guests brought beaming smiles to our faces. Especially the post production team that had worked so long and hard on the project.

It wasn’t just about us though, we had a good time catching up with friends and partners we’ve worked with over the past decade. There were also games in between to fill up the night. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were delighted that our guests seem to be haing a ball too. Evidenced by the fact we had to usher them, politely of course, out of the building when the party wrapped at 2am in the morning.

Every girl’s dream is to be a princess someday. That is exactly what we did for three beautiful girls. These girls had a chance to be a princess for a day on our Disney Junior shoot. The concept was simple, which was to get the children to repeat the same actions as per the original version from the US. That being said, kids being kids, keeping them interested enough to repeat the same actions over a sustained period of time proved challenging.

Overall, our three little princesses performed true to form and we managed to wrap up the shoot with smiles on everyone’s faces. Who says only fairy godmothers can grant wishes? For one day, we became one and made three little girls’ dreams come true.

Shooting five 20 second TVCs over the span of 2 long days was a grueling affair. The only consolation was the solitude and quiet that we found on location, in the island getaway of Sentosa, far from the hustle and bustle of mainland Singapore.

Not that anyone noticed, with a bevy of beauties on parade, 5 to be precise, the lush surrounds became secondary as all the attention focused on our main talents.

The idea was to highlight the 5 generic body types which presented common problems for the average woman when it came to choosing her wardrobe. The solution? Triumph Shape Sensation. Without over glamourizing the ideal body type, we sought to bring a measured approach towards insecurities that women encounter. And then show how Shape Sensation products can help address those concerns.

How difficult was it to concentrate on our jobs over the two days of shoot? It’s our little secret.

One of the many things we have been asked when we present our name card to clients is, “What is that thing on your card?” Other frequently asked questions include, “Is it a male? Or female?”, “is this the front? Or back?” And what we get asked most is, “How did you guys come up with this logo?”

The long and short of it is this. Our good friend Yasser Suratman who hails from local design collective The Bureau designed the logo when we decided to strike out on our own. As to how and why we came up with the logo design, we leave you to come up with your own conclusions.

This little animated short was based around the idea of how we eventually ended up with a design that included a pair of oversized arms and an arrow through the head. Does it help with answering any of the questions above? Not a single bit. But we had fun doing this and sometimes that’s all that matters. We hope you’ll enjoy this too.

Christmas came early this year! 18th December 2011 was a night to remember. We celebrated Christmas and Thanksgiving the Reel Loco way. Food was scrumptiously cooked by Ken & Matt, our friendly American duo as they introduced us to some good old Thanksgiving fare. Everyone brought something homecooked along and it made for an awesome meal.

It is not just the food that made us all happy; we had Secret Santa too! And there were the lucky draw prizes to look forward to. From cameras to bags, watches and so much more, it as nerve wrecking to find out what we had drawn out of the hat. Highlight of the day, someone got lucky with a 13-inch MacBook Pro as the top prize!

Good food. Great company. And much merry making. We had a blast.
How was your Christmas?

Going to the dentist is never going to top most people’s list of pleasant experiences. However you might just change your mind after a visit to Smile Inc. Fashionable. Sassy. With an attitude. This is a dental practice that you might imagine visiting in your dreams. A very good dream. And that was angle we approached this from. A classy model, aesthetically pleasing visuals edited to a moody soundtrack. This is what going to a dentist would be like if you married high fashion with a dentist chair. Eschewing the conventional approach, we are happy to say that the clients shared our vision for an alternative take to a often dreaded experience. Turning this, into an edgy yet stylish commercial.
